WHAT IS CORRECTIVE EXERCISE?
Corrective Exercise (CE) rebalances muscles in the body to relieve pain, improve range of motion, and correct compensations to reform movement patterns. CE are techniques that leverage an understanding of anatomy, kinesiology, and biomechanics to address and fix movement compensations and imbalances to improve the overall quality of movement during workouts and in everyday life. CE programming is prescribed for pre-hab, rehab, injury prevention, to take your performance to the next level, and to improve functional daily living. Corrective exercise is for every BODY.
HOW IS CORRECTIVE EXERCISE DIFFERENT FROM PHYSICAL THERAPY?
Corrective Exercise and Physical Therapy both aim to improve how the body moves and feels, but they serve different roles in the health and fitness continuum.
Physical Therapy is a medical service designed to diagnose, treat, and rehabilitate injuries, pain, or movement dysfunction—often after surgery, trauma, or the onset of a medical condition. It is typically prescribed by a healthcare provider and focuses on restoring baseline function, reducing pain, and helping individuals return to daily activities safely.
Corrective Exercise, on the other hand, bridges the gap between rehabilitation and performance. It is designed for individuals who may be out of pain or cleared from therapy but still experience movement limitations, imbalances, or weaknesses. Through detailed assessments and targeted programming, corrective exercise addresses the root causes of dysfunction, improves movement quality, and builds strength in a way that supports long-term resilience and an active lifestyle.
In short, physical therapy helps you recover—corrective exercise helps you move better, stay strong, and continue progressing beyond recovery.
